Title:

How often should a fresh pot of coffee be made if you drink coffee all day?

Question by Luv2no is in the house: How often should a fresh pot of coffee be made if you drink coffee all day?
I know I shouldn’t but sometimes I need the energy to get things done, so please don’t start beating me up. I say every couple of hours to keep it fresh, I can’t stand old coffee it has to be fresh. I have a coffee warmer that I sit it on so I don’t have to reheat my coffee. I like the quality of it.
I only use skim milk in it and no sugar so sugar isn’t a factor here. I see no harm in it. I drink water all day also.

I work in a cafe, and we end up brewing coffee every 30 minutes to an hour so most of the time it’s fresh. However I’ve found that after and hour of sitting on the warmers, the coffee begins to taste a little burnt. So an hour is my guess.

I have found over the years that the thing that ruins a pot of coffee is sitting on the hot plate, keepng the coffee warm. I now turn off the coffeemaker after I pour my first cup and reheat the second, etc., in the microwave…tastes much better. I once heard that coffee shops will only keep and serve coffee up to 18 mins. after brewing. After that it is dumped and a new pot made.

Are you drinking the whole pot? If not it’s kinda wasteful. Some coffe pots will automatically shut off after 2 hours. I personally say up to 2 and a half. I’m a mother so I understand about needing energy. Just make sure that you do drink plenty of water too-ohterwise you run into bladder and kidney infections which can really be painful. And it can lead to dehydration.

I drink coffee all day long too, and hate it heated up, or sitting on a burner. I have a DeLonghi Magnifico 3300 (with water & bean reservoirs), which makes a fresh cup, at the push of a button…. and I also have a Cuisinart, which brews into a thermal pot (which keeps it HOT almost 8 hrs)… AND, I use a coffee Toddy system, where you make 1 pound of coffee concentrate, which you add to a cup of hot water- so the coffee is always fresh ……

Have you tried an enclosed coffee urn, something that doesn’t have say air hitting it all the time. I am a coffee holic and I gave up on making coffee several times a day, I bought one of those 54 cup pots, it does very well for me, my hubby & my oldest kid, have to make a fresh pot once a day.

the old coffee taste bad because you put it on the warmer! keep it room temperature and microwave it every time you pour some in your coffee cup.

first off, you don’t want to leave coffee on the burner of a drip machine because it will continue to “cook” the coffee. yuck!

your best bet is to get an air tight, insulated coffee pot that mantains high temeratures of heat. that way you can make your cofee and transfer it to the airtight pot as soon as it’s done brewing. if it is quality enough, it will keep the coffee hot and fresh for plenty of hours (depending on your pot).

even better, if you light your coffee hot and fresh with each cup – get an individual “cup cone”. it’s a small filter basket that sits on top of your cup. you put a filter in, measure out your coffee, then pour hot water over it. fresh cup each time. you can get these at walmart and stuff for about $ 2.

I drink it til it’s gone and then it’s time for another. I’m down to 2 pots a day myself. As long as it’s hot I’ll drink it all day long. LOL

Hey! I’m a coffee cupper from Guatemala and I can say that you should not drink coffee that has been resting in the coffee machine for over 1.5 hours.
Immediatly after being brewed, due to temperature organic acids that give coffee a special flavor start changing into other organic acids but with unpleasent flavors (acetic acid and others). If exposed to light (usually because a transparent glass is used in the coffee maker) this process fastens. It also fastens if the machine has a temperature control that will keep the coffee hot, it gives a horrible overbaked flavor, because of this it is better to use thermos with temperature isolation, it will keep coffee warm without the need of constant heating. French Pressed coffee is made just the way you saw it. When you make coffee the usual way, you are pouring hot water through the coffee grounds and filtering it as it drains through them. In a French Press coffee maker, the hot water is added directly to the grounds and steeps just like loose tea. Then, a perforated plunger mechanism is at the top of the pot, and pressed down into the liquid and the grounds, squeezing out all of the strong flavor that gets left behind in the filter basket in your Mr. Coffee.

I would suggest that the man who drink is at an advantage in a riotous social situation, as he will have his wits about him. Beware him, for he may be staying sober in order to gain that advanatage, I suppose.

The man who has no enemies is either a liar, or has found a very good way to remove his enemies! Or – he is so scary no one will admit to being his enemy.

Like American lemonade, you make this drink to taste. Mix the sugar with the strained, filtered tamarind juice to get a good balance and then dilute with water until it is right to drink. Leave it a little stronger if you are going to pour it over ice. If you use a coffee filter, it will take quite a while to filter, but you will have a nice clear drink.
